We have left Arnhem and Mini Camping KooningsVeld that has been home for a week. Longer than we expected due to my back problem but also we wanted to know more about the place as we could see how amazing and caring the carers are with the residents and what an amazing place is is to live for individuals with learning difficulties and disabilities. Everyone is treated with care and respect. What a fantastic place and great community. Residents and workers work so hard to keep the campsite beautiful and facilities clean and make gorgeous Christmas decorations. Pitches are big and there is a kitchen with oven, electric hob, fridge/freezer and washing machine. in the building near the campsite that you can use which is warm in winter. We liked the fact it is run by the community and felt like a home from home. For the disabled, there is a completely adapted separate shower room. There is a separate room for ladies and gentlemen, in which 2 showers, a toilet and an adapted toilet have been fitted. "Our mission is to reduce the distance between society and people at a distance from the labour market. The campsite is a means of achieving this goal. We mainly think in terms of possibilities and not limitations. This often sets us apart from other mini-campsites. People with intellectual disabilities live in a number of houses on the 50-hectare park. The campsite is located at the end of this park and is open all year round. It is not possible to park caravans etc. or claim a permanent pitch. The campsite is cared for and maintained by the clients, in collaboration with supervisors." There is a paved wheelchair path for a walk through the woods and heaths. In addition, there are many other walking and cycling routes in the area. Some walking routes are (partly) suitable for wheelchairs. The woods are divine and so peaceful and beautiful.
