Florrys first testing trip out in February when the build was nearly finished. It didn't end too well. Went to the North of France to test the lorry out for the first time. A tyre burst and then the clutch went just as we crossed back over on the Eurotunnel to the UK. RAC towed the lorry to a DAF garage and we were left stranded as they don't allow the dog in the cab. We eventually got taken to London where we had a bed for the night. A lot was learnt about what we needed to secure down more and how much needs to be secured down when on the move. Good learning curve for us. It's hard to watch your home being taken away. Lorry life has its ups and downs and this was definitely a down but helped us realise too the difficulties of your home being on wheels. We still need to make a list of what to take from the lorry in case it's taken away again. Luckily I grabbed most the stuff needed for the dog but we forgot toothbrushes toothpaste etc and didn't take all the food out that we needed for the week we were homeless. Freezer was defrosted and fridge had to go off. Lessons learnt and the next trip was a little more successful. Will post the 2nd trip soon. Please feel free to help with the emergency list we need to make if and when it may break down again. What one thing would you want to take? Getting ready to move
Parked in Aire North France. Nice Aire but does cost 10 euro a night. No facilities but near the beach of Fort Mahon Plage Aire de Campings Cars Quend Plage 80120 Quend, France https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZQMgR9fm8Hd1NXNfA
Enjoying living outside Lovely Aire in Embry with toilets and showers and hot water. The owners are lovely and can order fresh croissants and jam for the next day. Very beautifully kept and clean. Great stop before the boat and owner knows a good local vet to take dogs to for their check and worming tablet they have to have to get back into the UK. Sadly the clutch went just after we got out if the tunnell so our home Florry the Lorry is towed away.
